Mary Helen Clark

Mary Helen Clark, age 90 of Redwood Fall, MN formerly of Nashua, died Wednesday afternoon April 30, 2008, at the Redwood Area Hospital in Redwood Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2008 at the United Methodist Church in Nashua.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 4th at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Online condolences for Mary may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.com

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Nashua.

Mary was born April 18, 1918, in Portsmouth, Ohio, the daughter of Kaleb and Julia Saleba. She was a 1939 graduate of Mount Mercy School of Nursing in Portsmouth, Ohio. She met her husband while working at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Clayton W. Clark M.D. and Mary were united in marriage October 29, 1942, in Fort Worth, Texas. She returned to Portsmouth when Clay was sent to the Pacific after serving at several bases in Texas. The couple came to Nashua, Iowa after the war in 1946 on a temporary basis and stayed for 62 years.

Mary was a stay at home mom who was actively involved in the lives of her family. She was a great cook, with an awesome chocolate cookie recipe. She was a member of the Nashua United Methodist Church and the U.M.C. Women for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, worked as a substitute school nurse and at the Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City. She also worked in her husband's medical clinic when needed.

Mary was an avid golfer until the age of 86. She continued to play bridge, bingo and slot machines until her death. Travel was also a large part of her life; camping trips and international travel. Mary had just celebrated her 90th birthday in Nashua with a large gathering of family and friends. Knowing that in Heaven it's always a great day to be on the golf course, that the sun is shining warmly and Mary is in the presence of her loved ones comforts the family.

She is survived by her four children, John (Barbara) Clark of Dallas, TX, Robert (Deborah) Clark of Frisco, TX, Marcia Todd of Kansas City, MO and Julia (Michael) Salmon of Redwood Falls, MN; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Grace Saleba of Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C. W. Clark on June 7, 1981; and a granddaughter, Mary Todd.
