Marcine McDevitt

Marcine McDevitt, 92, of Charles City, formerly of Keokuk, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Funeral services for Marcine McDevitt will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Dennis Niezwaag of the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday. Visitation will continue Tuesday an hour prior to the service.

Marcine Elizabeth Dupy McDevitt was born March 10, 1916, at Ottumwa, the daughter of Oscar and Catherine (McManis) Dupy. She graduated from the Keokuk Senior High School in 1933. On August 18, 1940, she was united in marriage to John McDevitt at Keokuk. They lived in Keokuk all their lives until moving to Charles City in 2003. Marcine worked many years as a medical secretary at a Doctor's office. She enjoyed doing crafts of various kinds, needlework and taking car rides especially along the
Mississippi.

Living family members include her husband, John McDevitt of Charles City; three children, Michael (Jane) McDevitt of Coatsville, Pa., Marcia (Richard) Olesen of Charles City and Cathy (Bob) Guess of Amarillo, TX; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia Mollers of Keokuk.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two granddaughters, Debbie and Diana Guess; a brother, Carl Dupy; a sister, Arline Dupy; and a brother-in-law, Wayne Mollers.
