Camilla Struble


Camilla Struble, 90, of Charles City, died Thursday, August 7, 2008, at Cedar Health in Charles City.

A funeral Mass for Camilla Struble will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Reverend Carl Ries, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the New Hampton City Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday where the Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. and a Vigil Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church an hour prior to the service.

Camilla Francis Reilly Struble was born September 14, 1917, at Jerico, the daughter of Michael and Nellie (Robinson) Reilly. As a child she lived at the Reilly Ridge Settlement and was the last of the Reilly clan to leave the settlement with her family. She graduated from the New Hampton High School in 1936. On April 3, 1937, she was united in marriage to John Struble at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They moved to Charles City in 1942. John died on March 26, 1972. Camilla was a rate clerk for Takin Brothers until the 1968 tornado. She then worked for Farner Hewitt Bocken as an office manager and bookkeeper for 20 years before she retired. Camilla was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Anthony‚s Circle and the Soroptimist Club.

Living family members include three daughters, Sharon Grice of Ankeny, Jean (Huey) Watson of Surprise, Ariz. and Ruth (Lee) Shanks of Arkansas City, Kans.; eight grandchildren, David Katcher, Debra Nation, Dan Katcher, Donna Krueger, Karen Ratering, Robert Grice and Cathy and Tim Watson; 23 great grandchildren; and 22 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a grandson, Michael John Watson; a great grandson, Harley Jacob Katcher; a sister, Evelyn Reilly; two brothers, Claire and Robert Reilly; and a son-in-law, Darrel Grice.
