Dorothy F. Kyle


Dorothy F. Kyle, 93, of Charles City, died Monday, August 25, 2008, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A funeral Mass for Dorothy Kyle will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. The Reverend Carl Ries will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday where the Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. and a Vigil Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the Mass at the church on Friday.

Dorothy Florence Fehr Kyle was born May 28, 1915, at LeRoy, Minn., the daughter of Nichales and Maria (Stober) Fehr. In 1933, she graduated from the Dysart Consolidated School. After high school Dorothy owned and operated her own restaurant in Waterloo, where she would later meet her husband. On April 14, 1936, she was united in marriage to Lyle Kyle at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo. Dorothy was a housewife until WWII when she was employed at the Oliver Inc. as an assembler. In 1961 she was employed at the Burke, Saunders and Company and later Johnson Accounting until her retirement. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Mary Circle, Soroptomist International, past Cub Scout leader and CYO at Immaculate Conception School. Her interests included playing Bridge especially in Charles City marathons, knitting, crocheting and fishing.

Living family members include her two sons, Larry (Patt) Kyle of Littleton, Colo. and Bill (Jeannie) Kyle of Charles City; eight grandchildren, Erik (Dawn) Kyle, Tom (Jennifer) Kyle, David (Char) Kyle, Nicole Kyle, Todd Kyle, Kelli Kyle, Andrew (Chris) Toland and Mitchell (Jeannine) Toland; ten great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Dolores Kyle of Joppa, Md.; one sister-in-law, Helyn Fehr of Door County, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Kenneth and John Kyle; three sisters; and three brothers.
