Mary R. Brunsen Becker

Mary R. Brunsen Becker, 81 of 1033 19th ST. SW, Mason City died Tuesday evening, September 23, 2008 at Hospice of North Iowa Inpatient Unit.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams, Mason City. Officiating will be the Rev. Jon Seda. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 pm Friday at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 2nd ST. SE, Mason City and again one hour prior to services at the church. Friday evening, there will be a Catholic Daughters of America rosary at 5:00 pm followed by a parish wake service at 5:30 at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Joseph Elmwood Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Mary R. Brunsen Becker Memorial Fund, in care of her daughter Linda Reynolds at 3623 W. Mary was the youngest of nine children born to Anastacio and Francisca “Ruiz” Mejia in Taylor, Texas. At age 9 she and her family moved from Granger, TX to Manly, Iowa where she completed her education and graduated with the class of 1947. She moved to Mason City a few years later and graduated from Hamilton Business School in 1954. Mary met her future husband, Fritz Brunsen, through relatives and they were joined in Holy Matrimony at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manly on June 16, 1956, until his death on December 23, 1975. Mary enjoyed reading, crafts, dancing, vegetable gardening, family gatherings, and social events. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, and Women of the Moose. In 1989, Mary moved to Charles City where she was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Joseph's Circle, Lay Carmelite Order, Senior Citizen’s Center Fun Band, and the Floyd County Hospital Auxiliary. Mary moved back to Mason City in 2002 and re-joined Holy Family Catholic Church.
Those thankful in sharing Mary’s life include her one daughter, Linda Reynolds, husband David, Peoria, IL; three grandchildren, Michelle Reynolds, husband Randy, Shorewood, IL; Michael Reynolds, wife Renae, Manchester, MO; and Kevin Reynolds, Edwardsville, IL; three great- grandchildren, Ashley, Bryce, and Haley Reynolds; one sister, Sylvia Mujica, husband Julian; one brother, Phil Mejia, wife Rita, all of Mason City, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death was her husband, her parents, brothers Joe and Tony Mejia, and sisters Dolores Escobedo, Lupe Arispe, Gabina Rodriguez and Jessie Zalazar.
