Joseph Barrett, 76, of Charles City, died Thursday, February 12, 2009, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.
Funeral services for Joseph Barrett will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. The Reverend Carl Ries of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.
Joseph Charles Barrett was born May 6, 1932, at Nashua, the son of William and Elizabeth (Churchill) Barrett. On April 9, 1976, he was united in marriage to Janice Taft at Charles City. He was employed with Salsbury Laboratories and later, Ryder as an over the road truck driver. His interests included working on cars and riding his Harley.
Living family members include his wife Jan Barrett of Charles City; six children, Rhonda (Phil) Neely of Bluffton, S.C., Jake (Lori) Kummer, Carla Kummer, Teresa Kummer, Don (Shelley) Koebrick and Charles Barrett all of Charles City; 13 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Shirley Barrett, Joann Barrett, Jane Walton and Pat Reis; and a brother, Jack Barrett.
