Alice T. Koehler


Alice T. Koehler, 80, of Charles City, died Thursday, March 19, 2009, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A funeral Mass for Alice Koehler will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Reverend Carl Ries, pastor, will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday where the Rosary will be held at 4:30 p.m. and the Vigil Scriptural Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday at the church an hour prior to the service.

Alice Theresa Conway Koehler was born November 1, 1928, at Estherville, the daughter of Ambrose and Josephine (Wycoff) Conway. She graduated from the Estherville High School. On April 19, 1953, she was united in marriage to Lyle Koehler in Charles City. Alice had worked as a secretary for a number of years at the Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company and for 20 years and Salsbury Laboratories now Fort Dodge Animal Health. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and St. Theresa Circle. Her interests included flower gardening, wreath making, reading, traveling and enjoying her family.

Living family members include four sons, Dennis (Cee) Koehler of Peach Tree City, Ga., James (Tammy) Koehler of Broomfield, Colo., Ronald (Toni) Koehler of Galesburg, Ill. and Scott (Sara) Koehler of Eden Prairie, Minn.; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Ellen Johnson of Okoboji and Pat (Don) Alcott of Kansas City, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lyle on November 8, 1985; an infant brother, Clarence Conway; and two nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Immaculate Conception School, 1203 Clark Street, Charles City, IA 50616.

The family would like to thank the Mayo Clinic, Mercy Cancer Center, Hospice of North Iowa Charles City site, and the staff of 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home for all their care.
