Gail Lonergan


Gail Lonergan, 74, of Charles City, died Thursday, May 21, 2009, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Funeral services for Gail Lonergan will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastors Dennis Niezwaag and David Werges will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens rural Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation will continue Wednesday at the church an hour prior to the service.

Gail Joyce Meyer Lonergan was born January 17, 1935, in Charles City, the daughter of Rueben and Mildred (Howe) Meyer. She graduated from Charles City High School. In February of 1956 she married Dale Lonergan. They later divorced. Gail worked at New Hampton Care Center for many years and Heritage Residence in New Hampton. Gail, for the past 13 years, was involved with the foster grandparent program. She was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Gail always enjoyed playing a rousing game of cards. Her greatest interest was her family and she always looked forward to sharing her life with them,

Living family members include two daughters, Shirley (Ed) Platte and Joyce (Michael) Downing both of Charles City; four grandchildren, Aaron and Abigail Platte and Travis and Tyler Downing; and her pet cat, Toby II.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
