Alice L. Peterson

Alice L. Peterson, 93, of Osage, formerly of Charles City, died Friday, June 12, 2009, at the Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha.
Funeral services for Alice Peterson will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Paul Brown, of the First Baptist Church in Osage, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.
The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.
Alice Leona Brown Peterson was born March 28, 1916, in Estherville, the daughter of Grandville “Dick” and Olive (Allen) Brown. She attended school in Estherville and graduated from West Union High School. On March 20, 1943, she was united in marriage to John G. Peterson in Minneapolis, Minn. Alice was a nurse’s aide at the Chautauqua Guest Homes in Charles City and the Faith Home in Osage. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Osage.
Living family members include two children, Karen (Roger) Turner of Cedar Rapids and Glenn (Mercedes) Peterson of Alsip, Ill.; a sister, Vivian VanValkenburg of Omaha, Nebr.; a brother-in-law, Elmer Oelkers of Dodge, Nebr; a special niece, Coe Lytle of Charles City; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John in 1976; an infant son, Charles Melvin Peterson; four sisters, Daisy Pellner, Grace Elwell, Pearl Zerke and Gladys Oelkers; and four brothers, Grant, Richard, Morton and Ernest Brown.
