LaVerne Jacobs

LaVerne Jacobs, 76, of Charles City, died Friday, June 26, 2009, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.
Funeral services for LaVerne Jacobs will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastors David Werges and Dennis Niezwaag will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday. Visitation will continue Tuesday at the church an hour prior to the service.
LaVerne William Jacobs was born January 30, 1933, at Plainfield, the son of Forrest and Malita (Wefel) Jacobs. He received his education at Charles City. On October 15, 1949, he was united in marriage to Juanita Robeson at Lancaster, Mo. LaVerne farmed all his life, was proprietor of Jacobs Trucking, was employed for 20 years at Salsbury Laboratories and also worked at Jacobs Elevator. He was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. LaVerne was a farmer at heart and enjoyed driving semi and taking road trips to Wisconsin. His family was always important to him and he would visit with them daily, taking special interest in the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Living family members include his wife, Juanita of Charles City; three daughters, Linda (Les) Hobert of Charles City, Debra (Tim) Hovey of Charles City and DeeAnn (Craig) Moline of Boone; seven grandchildren, Wendy (Lindsey) Botkin, Jeff (Misty) Hobert, Travis Hobert, Ryan (Holly) Wright and Joshua, Kelsey and Claire Moline; five great grandchildren including one soon to arrive; two brothers, Ralph Jacobs of Tex. and Roger (Marcia) Jacobs of Charles City; and four sisters, Delores Farner and Sandra (Terry) Slinger both of Cedar Rapids, Beverly (Chuck) Waddell of Floyd and Tammy Jacobs of Charles City.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
