Eva Young

Eva M. Young, 95, of Ionia, died Thursday morning, September 24, 2009, at the Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

Funeral services for Eva Young will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor David Werges of the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Visitation will continue an hour before the service at the funeral home on Saturday.

Eva Mary Roethler was born June 12, 1914, in rural Ionia, the daughter of Frank and Emma (Slack) Roethler. She graduated from the Ionia High School. On November 6, 1936, she was united in marriage to Glen Young at Charles City. Eva was a farm wife, while also working as a secretary for several local doctors in Charles City. She was a member of the Chickasaw County Historical Society, Rural Neighbors and was a 4-H leader for over 20 years. Her interests included flowers, gardening and sewing.

Living family members include her five children, Betty Attleson of Rochester, Minn., Donald (Julie) Young of Oakland, Nebr., Bill (Shirley) Young of Gladbrook, Richard (Kay) Young of Charles City and Mary (Joe) Koenigsfeld of Dakota City, Nebr.; 16 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; great-great granddaughter, Faith Eckenrod; and a brother, Charles Roethler.
