Pearl H. Bode
Pearl H. Bode, 85, of Charles City, died Tuesday afternoon, September 1, 2009, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.
Graveside services for Pearl Bode will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City. Pastor Jane Keel of the Messiah Lutheran Church will officiate.
Pearl Hazel Morgan was born May 29, 1924, at Lawton, Okla., the daughter of Ira and Elizabeth (Burnette) Morgan. On January 1, 1948, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Bode in Texas. During WWII, Pearl worked at the air craft factories to aid the war effort. Her interests included fishing and duck hunting with her husband, playing cards, taking walks in the mountains, picking wild flowers and Pinion` Nuts and spending time with her family.
Living family members include her four children, Helen (Rick) Winters of Ore., Larry (Collen) Colo., Roy Bode of Charles City and Gerald Bode of Colo.; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita Cox of Big Bear, Calif. and Naomi Jetton of San Bernardino, Calif.; brother, Floyd Burnett of Lawton, Okla.; brother-in-law, Paul (Dixie) Bode of Osage; sister-in-law, Thelma Griggs of Sheridan, Wyo.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Nathalie Place; and a brother, Sylvester Burnett.
