Ronald Nehls, 79, of Charles City, died, Thursday, September 17, 2009, at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Memorial services for Ronald Nehls will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastors Dennis Niezwaag and David Werges will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. The family will also greet friends at the church an hour prior to the service.
Ronald Eugene Nehls was born June 11, 1930, at Charles City, the son of Frank and Irene (Hobert) Nehls. He graduated from the Charles City High School in 1949. Ronald served in the National Guard for many years. On September 6, 1953, he was united in marriage to Betty Bissonnette. During his career he was employed with V.F. Moltz, Hennickson Steel, Harvestore and Knutson Construction. He was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Elk’s Club. His interests included golfing, fishing, hunting and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes as one of their devoted fans. Ronald dearly loved his grandchildren and took every opportunity to share his life with them.
Living family members include his wife, Betty of Charles City; a daughter, Sharon (Rick) Janssen of Zumbro Falls, Minn.; and two sisters, Marilyn (Arlin) Enabnit of Marble Rock and Janice (John) Caughlin of Beloit, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Linda Gifford in 1987.
