Betty Nehls

Betty Nehls, 77, of Charles City, died Saturday, November 14, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.
Memorial services for Betty Nehls will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009, at the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastors David Werges and Dennis Niezwaag will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date.
The family will greet friends at the church an hour prior to the service.
Betty Jeanne Bissonnette Nehls was born May 13, 1932, at Waterloo, the daughter of Claire and LaVerna (Woodworth) Bissonnette. She graduated from Charles City High School. On September 6, 1953, she was united in marriage to Ronald Nehls. Over the years Betty worked as a secretary for Salsbury Laboratories, Sherman Nursery and the University of Iowa. She was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church and Daughters of the Revolution. Her interests included various types of needlework, quilting, watching both Iowa Hawkeye and Comet sports.
Living family members include a daughter, Sharon (Rick) Janssen of Zumbro Falls, Minn.; and two grandchildren, Sidney and Cory Janssen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on September 17, 2009; a daughter, Linda Gifford; and a sister, Arlene Smith.
