Marian Wood

Marian Wood, 94, of Marble Rock, died Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at Port Charles Assisted Living in Charles City.

Funeral services for Marian Wood will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City. Pastor Gary Van Wert will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Greene.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday and an hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.

Marian Elaine Marsh Belknap Wood was born February 8, 1915, in Greene, the daughter of Ira and Linda (Fischer) Marsh. She attended country school, graduating in 1933 from Greene High School. On August 12, 1937, Marian was united in marriage to Marion Belknap at Austin, Minn. They farmed east of Greene until Marion’s death on May 3, 1958. To this union three children were born. For a number of years Marian and Verle Townseley ran the Corner Dress Shop in Greene. Marian married Gordon Wood on September 8, 1962 at the United Methodist Church in Greene. Gordon died on May 12, 1987. Marian was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church in Greene and Marble Rock. She served in various offices of the church, was organist and choir member. Marian was also a 25 year member of the United Methodist Women. She was an excellent cook, hard working farm wife and loving mother and grandmother. Marian was a truly special person who will be missed very much.

Living family members include twin daughters, Kay (Franklin) Troutner of Nashua and Karen (Noel) Mizell of St. Charles, Mo.; five grandchildren, Tricia (Tim) Schultz, Teria Troutner, Tina (Jon) Schmidt, Tammy Maygar and Todd Mizell; three great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Dee Belknap of Eldora and her three children, Roger, Marsha and Rodney; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a son, Francis Belknap on September 11, 2007; a son-in-law, Noel Mizell on October 5, 2008; two brothers, Clinton and Dwight Marsh; and two sisters, Lillian Marsh and Harriet Scheidler.
