Ronald E. Wulff


Ronald E. Wulff, 77, of Charles City, died Friday, February 19, 2010, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Memorial services for Ronald Wulff will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Robert Holdorf of the West Saint Charles United Methodist Church will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in the West Saint Charles Cemetery rural Charles City. There will be a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and an hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Ronald Eugene Wulff was born May 26, 1932, at Charles City, the son of Lawrence and Elsie (Melcher) Wulff. He graduated from the Charles City High School in 1950. Ronald proudly served in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict at which time he was stationed in Japan for 15 months. On June 10, 1955, he was united in marriage to Viola Bennett at the West Saint Charles United Methodist Church. They farmed all of their lives west of Charles City. He was a member of the West Saint Charles United Methodist Church where he had served in various offices of the church, had been on the Board of Directors of the Farmers Coop in Rudd, Iowa Nut Growers Association, and The Marquetry Society. Ronald was an artist known for his work in marquetry, which was featured on Iowa Public Television. He was man with a passion for knowledge and had great curiosity about the world around him. Ronald was an avid reader who relished learning and sharing his knowledge. His many interests included beekeeping, growing orchids, maintaining a greenhouse, large gardens and propagating and planting nut and fruit trees. Ronald loved his family and shared a very special bond with his grandchildren.

Living family members include his wife, Viola Wulff of Charles City, four children, Pamela (Greg) Hodgman of Kalamazoo, Mich., Marvyn (Dawn) Wulff of Mason City, Julia (Greg) Formanek of Farmersburg and Valerie (Bill) Sherman of Alpharetta, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh) Flowers, Eric Hodgman, Brenton, Kyle and Joshua Formanek, Miranda Wulff and Nicholas and Andrew Sherman; a great granddaughter, Madeleine Flowers; a sister, Joyce (Jim) Shover of Hopkinton; and two brothers, Lee (Marilyn) Wulff and Myron Wulff both of Charles City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; and a sister-in-law, Patsy Wulff.
