Dolores Gray

Dolores Gray, 87, of Charles City, died Friday, March 19, 2010, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
A funeral Mass for Dolores Gray will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Reverend Carl Ries will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Charles City.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday where the Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. and the Vigil Scriptural Wake Service will be held a 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday at the church an hour prior to the Mass.
Dolores Swehla Gray was born August 2, 1922, in Chickasaw County, the daughter of Charles and Nora (Hugeback) Swehla. She graduated from North Washington. On April 5, 1945, she was united in marriage to Selmer Gray. In 1962 they opened the S&D Lounge which they owned and operated for several years and then farmed. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Saint Francis Circle and Heritage Club. Her interests included dancing, playing cards, gardening, going to the cabin at Harper’s Ferry and fishing. Family was always important to Dolores and she looked forward to sharing her life with them. Dolores will always be remembered as a very hard worker and for her love of animals.
Living family members include three children, Bonnie (Leonard) Tegtmeier of Charles City, Larrie (Leigh) Gray of Austin, Minn. and Charles (Brenda) Gray of Cedar Falls; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on January 16, 1983; and a great grandson, Michael McCormick.
