William "Bill" J. Hosek
CHARLES CITY, Iowa - William "Bill" J. Hosek, 94, of Charles City, died Tuesday, August 07, 2007, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
A funeral Mass for William J. Hosek will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. The Reverend Carl Ries will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Charles City.
The family will greet friends at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. where the rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m.
William J. Hosek was born March 15, 1913, at Cresco, the son of Jon and Mary (Horn) Hosek. He received his education at rural schools. On September 24, 1934, he was united in marriage to Martha Havel at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin, IA. Before moving to Charles City William and Martha were farmers in Howard County. They later operated Malek and Hosek General Store in Schley, IA. After moving to Charles City he was employed full time at the Oliver Corporation for 30 years. William was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City and the Knights of Columbus. His interests included gardening and fishing. William‚s faith in the church was very important to him and he was a very devoted member of the Knights of Columbus.
Living family members include his wife, Martha Hosek of Charles City; one sister, Rose Bouska of Cresco; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 106 Chapel Ln, Charles City, IA 50616.
