Robert "Bob" Kluwe

CHARLES CITY, Iowa - Robert "Bob" Kluwe, 77, of Charles City, died Thursday, January 17, 2008, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A funeral Mass for Bob Kluwe will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. The Reverend Carl Ries will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Charles City. Military honors will be conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday where the Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the Mass on Wednesday.

Robert Dean Kluwe was born, December 12, 1930, at Charles City, the son of Ben and Agnes (Phillips) Kluwe. He graduated from the Charles City High School in 1950. Bob served in the Marine Corps from 1950 to 1954 and served in Korea during the Korean War for one year. In 1993, after 37 years he retired from White Farm. He was a member of the American Legion, Vets of Foreign Wars, Cooties and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. His interests included fishing, hunting and watching the Iowa Hawkeye‚s and the Green Bay Packers.

Living family members include his brother, Vernon (Suzanne) Kluwe of Charles City; one sister-in-law, Betty Kluwe of Charles City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Audrey Cenek and Delores Godowski; a brother, Ben Kluwe and a brother at infancy.
