Donald H. Bailey
NASHUA, Iowa - Donald H. Bailey, age 76 of Nashua, died Sunday afternoon July 22, 2007, at the Ninth Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
Memorial Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at the Little Brown Church at Nashua with Rev Ralph Wedeking officiating. Donna Pierce will be the organist leading the congregation in singing the “Lord’s Prayer“. Karla Wiebke will sing “How Great Thou Art” and “On Eagles Wings”.
Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery with Brian Sullivan, Mark Bailey, Jim Hampton, Donald Kruger, Kerry Kruger, Brad Sudol, Eric Sudol and Steve Sudol serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Hansen, Roger Vohsman, Don Larson, John Ross and Don Niemeyer. Military rites will conducted by Nashua VFW Post #6792.
The family will greet friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua and one hour prior to services. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences for the family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.com
Donald Henry Bailey was born November 3, 1930, in New Hampton, Iowa the son of Paul H. and Anna E. (Kahn) Bailey. He attended country school in Williamstown. In 1952, Don was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served in Korea with the military police. He was Honorably Discharged in 1954.
On June 27, 1954, he was united in marriage to Beverly Mary Sudol at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union, three children were born. The couple lived in Nashua all their married life and enjoyed farming for forty of those years. Don also worked for Hydrotile and hauled milk for Nashua & Fredericksburg Creamery’s.
In his free time, Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to auctions, trapping, flea markets, bowling, darts, dominos and cards. He especially enjoyed wintering in Texas and driving the combine. He was a member of the Little Brown Church, where he served as a trustee.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly; two sons, Terry (Cindy) Bailey of Nashua and Kirk (Deb) Bailey of Charles City; one daughter, Anita (Tom) Sullivan of Nashua; six grandchildren, Tanya (Jim) Hampton, Brian (Andrea) Sullivan, Mark & Megan Bailey and Matthew & Leslye Bailey; one great-grandson, Aiden Sullivan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Teresa Sullivan; one brother, Gerald Bailey; one sister, Joyce Kruger Harnish
