Emilie Kaylen McAbee

CHARLES CITY, Iowa - Emilie Kaylen McAbee, 68, went home to heaven on Tuesday, June 19, 2007.  She was under the compassionate care of Hospice at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday (June 26, 2007) at the New Life Community Church, 1960 Gilbert St. in Charles City with Rev. Michael McAbee and Rev. Mike Blatchley officiating.  Another memorial service with inurnment at the Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell, Idaho will take place at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.

Kaylen, as she was commonly known, was born on January 10, 1939 in Scranton, Iowa to John and Marjorie (Harris) Hibnes.  Her family settled in Homedale, Idaho when she was a teenager.  In 1958, she married Virgle McAbee and lived in a variety of places here in the U.S. and in Europe during his military career.  In later life, she settled again in Homedale.  In 2004, Kaylen moved to Charles City, Iowa to be closer to her family.

She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, and loved her children and grandchildren very much.  Kaylen was a generous and giving person, always finding a way to help others in need.  When she could, she enjoyed attending church and talking about Jesus Christ.  Kaylen was a person of incredible faith.

She will be greatly missed by the family she leaves behind, her four sons; David McAbee of Boise, Idaho; Dwayne and his wife Karen of Ft. Worth, Texas; Mark and his wife Wendye of Anchorage, Alaska; and Michael and wife Derese of Charles City, Iowa; her 9 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents, and her brother, John Hibnes, Jr.
