Donald O'Brien

CHARLES CITY, Iowa - Donald O'Brien, 77, of Charles City, died Friday, June 15, 2007, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Funeral services for Donald O'Brien will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Sister Jennifer Rausch, pastor associate at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the West Saint Charles Cemetery rural Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. Visitation will continue Tuesday at the funeral home an hour prior to the service.

Donald James O'Brien was born April 13, 1930, at Bluffton, the son of Elizabeth "Lizzie" O'Brien. His education was received at Bluffton. During his working years Donald was employed at the Dutch Oven for 10 years, and Floyd County Memorial Hospital for 26 years. Donald was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He always looked forward to spending time with his friends especially at the Uptown Café and HyVee for coffee.

Surviving cousins include Gary White of Nashua, Joyce (Dale) Lockey of Swan, Jim White of Dubuque, Judy Learn of Charles City, Virginia (Mike) Schallock of Charles City, Dennis (Deb) Schmidt of Charles City and Barb (Gary) Schmidt of Worthington, MN.

He was preceded in death by his mother and a cousin, Rosalyn Schmidt.
