CHARLES CITY, Iowa - Harlie Boggess, 79, of Charles City, died Monday, September 10, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

Funeral services for Harlie Boggess will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Ruth Yeaton of First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Visitation will continue at the funeral home an hour prior to the service.

Harlie Donald Boggess was born July 10, 1928, at Bassett, the son of Calvin and Mabel (Frazee) Boggess. He received his education at Bassett. On August 19, 1950, he was united in marriage to Daisy Brooks at Mason City. Harlie worked in construction laying underground telephone cable, with the Charles City Street Department and also owned and operated Boggess Backhoe. His interests included hunting, fishing, playing darts, camping and attending truck pulls in which his son pulled.

Living family members include his wife, Daisy Boggess of Charles City; two children, Dorothy (Richard) Vandeventer of Charles City and Larry (Bonnie) Boggess of Charles City; two grandchildren, Cindy Thornton and Amy Vandeventer; four great grandchildren, Justice, Moesha and Paris Vandeventer and Phil Armstrong; and three sisters, Gertrude Houser of New Hampton, Grace Griffen of Mason City and Maybelle (Gilbert) Stelzer of Charles City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and seven brothers.
