Raymond Johnson

CHARLES CITY, Iowa - Raymond Johnson, 81, of Greene, died Tuesday, September 25, 2007, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Private family services are being planned.

Raymond Anton Johnson was born August 14, 1926, in Butler County, the son of Anton and Minnie (Ooster) Johnson. He graduated from Kansas State Teachers College where he earned a degree in metallurgy. During World War II, Raymond proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in both the Philippines and Japan. On October 5, 1946, he was united in marriage to Helen Saia at Columbus, Kans. In 1955 they moved to the Allison area where they farmed and in 1967 they moved to the Greene area where they continued farming. Helen died on April 27, 2004. Raymond was a member of Saint John‚s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Vilmar. His interests included farming, fishing, hunting and debate. 

Living family members include two children, Robert (Angie) Johnson of Center Point and Ramona (Michael) Kasemeier of Sumner; five grandchildren, Jason (Lisa) Johnson, Alexandria Streinz, Jonathon Johnson, Jennifer (Chris) Lane and Beth (Clint) Munk; four great grandchildren; a brother, Carl (Mary) Johnson of Oregon; and two sisters, Henrietta Timmer of Parkersburg and Bendena (Stauffer) Johnson of Parkersburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; four brothers and two sisters.
